Project 2 Response

The feedback was extremely helpful in further expanding the concept of this idea. I plan to provide more animations to add deeper element to display, while developing a smoother transition.

Black Experience: Men

Black Experience: Men 2020 While engaging in the classroom about the African-American/Black-American history, the initiation of the usual topic would begin with the Transatlantic Slave Trade period and continue to the contemporary view of black people in the United States. This piece was designed to highlight the decay of black people from once having the freedoms and luxuries to media targets for dismantling the agenda of active or silent protest for injustice. The first individual was the warrior persona before the introduction of colonialism. The second, the 400 years of chattel slavery and removal of identity. The third, the rise of the Black Panther Party to empower the black community through the harsh environment surrounding the Jim Crow era. Project 2 Idea

I wanted to highlight the decay of the African American from once being an individual of status to be reduced to cattle. I was thinking of having the individual clad in their respective garment of status and possibly a crown. As the animation continues the individual's jewels begin to melt and the garments are torn and replaced with the chains and ragged clothing.

Project 2

For this project, my initial thought regarding decay was through the concept of societal decay, particularly the decay of Black Americans from the days of african rulership to the contemporary view of a Black Americans. Also possibly the decay of human interaction due to the over usage of phones.

Feedback

I had a great experience in being able to showcase my work. Overall the piece was well received with minor changes that could further propel the meaning behind the work. My next plan of attack is to implement more blending within the mouth area with the dollar bill print to look more cohesive even though there was a split on whether I should leave it or not. Making the watch more apparent to not emulate a clock would be the next goal given that my intention was not to make the watch come across as a clock. The main concern which will take more processing was further expanding on the artistic side to make the bandage more scattered through my body. Overall the critiques were detailed and were legitimate enough to not stray from the concept.
