Extremes

Image
Extremes, Sharod Farmer 2020 Analyzing both aspects of my life I wanted to provide two segments that encompass who I am today. Today Sharod Farmer is an artist specializing with wooden sculptures and a Founder/CEO of a BookMark’d, an online marketplace for college students to buy and sell academic materials on their campus to other students. For sculpture, I am always going with the flow and allowing my sculptures to take form on its own with my own body at its expense. In the event, a problem occurs, duct tape symbolizes my initial decision to use temporary fixes to solve the problem ultimately still showing visible signs of a disaster such as remnants in my hair.  For my business personality, I analyze and examine more methodically to ensure the company thrives. Being on the move causing me to be heavily reliant on my keys to get me to my meetings. Being bombarded with paperwork to sign off for and always having to pit...

Background

If I had to provide a synopsis of myself, it would begin with expressing that my level of compassion, attention to detail, work ethic, is what would culminate as what I am as a person. My special feature I would guess as my ability to think beyond the scope and understanding various perspectives. However, I do have some negative points, especially my inability to give time to myself and wanting to do everything (spreading myself too thin). Despite my flaws, I would like to be remembered as a man, who survived and made the best of my situation while also making the best for everyone to have the opportunity to succeed.

HW 1: Digital Technologies as a Tool Response

Image
From reading the chapter in Digital Technologies as a Tool , the culture surrounding digital technologies has grown exponentially within the past decades while also being integrating into multiple components of modern artwork. The piece that I found the most favoring was titled Beauty Composites First and Second , created by Nancy Burson in 1982. This work served as the early adoption of utilizing digital art as a medium. The images were constructed using a technique known as morphing, which has been defined as being able to transform images by compositing. This was rather interesting due to my unending interest in crime dramas such as Law & Order. This technique was actually appropriated to be used in law-enforcement agencies in order to produce alterations of suspects or POIs (Person of Interest for all of you non-fans out there.) Bruson also used mathematical functions such as the Csuri's constitutes, which allowed Burson was able to transform one image onto anothe...

Bane of Society

Image
I primarily focus on sculpture as my medium of choice. This piece is called the Bane of Society.  Inspired by the design of snakeskin. Snakes have always had a negative relationship in most cultures with humans  especially from a religious standpoint. The dichotomy of the perception of snakes and the design of their skin  are two fascinating elements. Highlighting the pattern of the skin was the main focus of this piece by having  the material react with light to outshine the shape of the actual snake. Implementing the rigid structure being  juxtaposed with the elegant pattern being carved into the figure was to further exaggerate the opposing  forces that coexists with snakes.
